Sedalia School District 200 is bringing back a familiar face to become the next principal at Skyline Elementary School.

During their executive session Monday, Feb. 23, the board of education hired Dr Ashley Klein, who will assume the role next school year upon the retirement of Kelly McFatrich. Supt. Dr Todd Fraley says the district is excited to welcome Klein back to Sedalia.

Earlier that evening during the regular session, the board agreed to a number of position additions and reductions. Fraley explains that the moves are part of an annual review of the district’s needs and budget levels.

Teaching positions were added for next school year at Heber Hunt and Washington elementary schools, along with an additional special education teacher each at Sedalia Middle School and Smith-Cotton Junior High. Vacancies for the district’s grant writer, CAPS Director, and an administrative assistant will remain vacant, as two of those positions will be handled by either part-time personnel or as an extra duty assignment next school year. Depending on enrollment numbers, a teaching vacancy at the high school’s CAPS program may also go unfilled next year.
