A dozen Saline County residents filed their paperwork Tuesday, Feb. 24 with the county’s election authority to run in the August 2026 primary election.

The Saline County Clerk’s office opened at 8 a.m., where six candidates soon arrived to complete their paperwork. Among them was Jill Hamilton Hollabaugh, who filed to run for presiding commissioner on the Republican ticket. Incumbent Becky Plattner filed later in the morning for the Democratic primary, seeking another four-year term for the position. After the first day of filing, presiding commissioner is the only race in Saline County with multiple candidates filed. A total of eight incumbents filed Tuesday. Three people filed for township committee positions, all on the Republican ballot.

Candidate filing for Missouri House of Representatives, Missouri Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, and State Auditor is taking place at the Missouri Secretary of State’s office in Jefferson City.  Their updated list of candidate filings is posted on their website.

Filing closes March 31st at 5 p.m.
