Saline County Commissioners met briefly Tuesday, Feb. 24 to consider a lawn request from the Marshall Cultural Council.
In their eight-minute session, commissioners agreed to a lawn use request presented by the cultural council’s Sandy Hisle for the annual Shopping Under The Sun event set for Aug. 1. Commissioners also agreed to allow the council to set up the evening of July 31 and continue clean-up the morning of Aug. 2. The commission also approved the hire of a new deputy in the sheriff’s office. During his report, southern district commissioner Monte Fenner noted that the wastewater treatment lagoon project at the Marshall Junction was considered 86 percent complete.
Commissioners moved their meeting up a day as they are attending required training this week at the annual conference of the County Commissioners Association of Missouri. The commission’s next regular session is scheduled for Wednesday, March 11.
