Due to heightened risk, outdoor burning is prohibited in Moberly on Friday.

In response to changing weather conditions, the National Weather Service in St. Louis has elevated today’s fire risk to Critical Fire Danger. Low humidity, gusting winds, and dry vegetation are contributing to conditions that significantly increase the likelihood of rapid, uncontrollable fire spread. These conditions are expected to persist throughout the day.

Moberly Fire Chief Don Ryan has issued a prohibition on all outdoor burning within the Moberly city limits for the duration of the Red Flag Warning, which remains in effect until 6 p.m.

Residents are urged to refrain from outdoor burning of any kind and to ensure that all open or smoldering flames are completely extinguished. If you observe smoke, fire, or any fire-related emergency, call 911 immediately. Even small fires can escalate quickly under today’s conditions.
