Athletic leaders at Smith-Cotton High School and Smith-Cotton Junior High are devising a new blueprint for Tiger athletics that they hope to see adopted across the entire Sedalia School District 200.

A preliminary draft was presented at last week’s board of education meeting by the district’s activities directors, Kyle Middleton at the high school and Brian Foster at the junior high. Supt. Dr Todd Fraley says a key area of emphasis in the new plan is preparing future Tigers at the lower grades to better compete when they reach the high school.

Fraley says for Sedalia Schools to grow and develop their future Tigers, they will need to provide more opportunities for elementary school students to explore athletics.

Fraley says Middleton and Foster will continue to develop the plan, with the aim to present a final version at one of the district’s two board of education meetings scheduled for March. Sedalia’s school board is next scheduled to meet March 9.
