A Sedalia woman was arrested after allegedly stealing a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident on Tuesday, February 24th.

According to the Sedalia Police Department, officers were dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle crash at the area of North Harding Avenue and East Harvey Street at 11:18 a.m. While en route, officers were advised that one of the drivers involved with the crash, 46-year-old Alicia Ulmer, reportedly stole another vehicle and fled the scene of the accident.

Officers were able to locate Ulmer at a residence in town, but Ulmer refused to let them inside. Police were eventually able to enter the home, where Ulmer began to punch and fight with the officers attempting to take her into custody. Officers reviewed surveillance from the crash, which showed a semi truck attempting to back into a lot on West Harding when a car driven by Ulmer travel under the trailer at a high rate of speed and lose control off the west side of the roadway. Ulmer was allegedly seen getting out of the vehicle and stealing a 2012 Chevrolet truck.

Ulmer has been charged with felonies for tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree and resisting arrest. Ulmer has also been charged with misdemeanors for assault in the fourth degree and leaving the scene of an accident. No court dates have been set at this time.
