The Sedalia City Council approved three change orders Monday night for the project to rehabilitate the century-old Washington Street Bridge.

City administrator Matthew Wirt says two of the change orders will cover the cost of two sections that need additional treatment.
.

These two change orders total $21,219.66. However, the largest of the three change orders was for $24,350.00, compensating contractors Double Arch Construction for delays caused by additional review sought by Union Pacific Railroad.

During Monday’s meeting, Wirt was asked if the city could seek reimbursement from the railroad for the delays, to which Wirt responded: “I wish.” Despite the delays, Wirt says contractors remain committed to completing the rehab project and reopening the Washington Street Bridge as originally scheduled.
