The Lone Jack Mules emerged from a closely fought contest against St Paul Lutheran to complete an undefeated run in round-robin play, winning the I-70 Conference scholar bowl title Monday, Mar. 9 at Sweet Springs High School.

The Mules claimed three of the last five tossups to erase a 40-point deficit, beating the Saints 200-190 in the last round. Captain Parker Nichol says he encouraged his team to channel another comeback story when they entered halftime down by 10.
.

Nichol led all scorers with 18 tossups across four rounds, while teammate Hayden Cunliffe added 13 to earn all-conference honors. Nichol says their partnership has helped to lift the Mules to this year’s conference title.

Lone Jack claimed comfortable wins off Sweet Springs and Concordia, then held off Wellington-Napoleon to set up the winner-take all clash with St Paul. The Mules and head coach Robbie England will now prepare for their Class Three district, which will take place April 18 in Butler.
