Smith-Cotton alumnus Blake Grupe was among the players getting in on the signing action Monday as the NFL nears the start of its new business year.
The Indianapolis Colts confirmed Monday, Mar. 9 that Grupe would return to the team next season as their place kicker. According to reporting by the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Grupe has signed a one-year deal worth up to $1.4 million. Grupe was picked up by the Colts in November after he was released by New Orleans Saints. In his five games for the AFC South squad, Grupe was 11-for-11 on field goals and made all ten of his extra points.
The Colts are scheduled to play the Chiefs this fall at Arrowhead, which would be Grupe’s second professional game at Arrowhead Stadium.
