
The Fayette Board of Aldermen approved a moratorium preventing residents from trapping any stray or feral cats during its meeting on Tuesday, March 10th.
City Administrator Deanna Cooper says the city has had a problem with residents trapping and releasing cats in the community. Cooper says the board put the moratorium in place to prevent any further trapping until a more detailed ordinance is put in place.
In other news, Aldermen held a discussion over relocating the Police Department to a new building. Cooper says the current building was built in the 1920s and isn’t functional meet the department’s needs. Cooper says the board has looked at several vacant buildings in town, but hasn’t made any formal decision.
