
Nigel Sam Smith, 57, of Kansas City, formerly of Sedalia, died Sunday, March 8, 2026 in Kansas City.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 11 A.M. at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Sedalia, with Elder Noah Poole officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 until 11 A.M. Saturday at the funeral chapel.
Nigel was born December 16, 1968 in Sedalia, to Norma (Clark) Patrick and the late Dallas Smith, Jr.
He graduated from Smith-Cotton High School, where he was not only an excellent student, but was a very good athlete as well. He loved sports, especially baseball, basketball, and soccer. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He loved the Lord, and joined the Pentecostal Church at an early age. His most prized possessions were his loving, devoted, and faithful family, especially his parents and siblings.
Remembering Nigel and his infamous words of wisdom, along with his charismatic personality, are his mother and step-father, Norma J. and Milton F. Patrick of Columbia; his siblings, Anthony Q. Smith of Arkansas, Kenneth L. Smith (Brigitt) of Conway, South Carolina, Leonard Patrick (Rachael) of Arizona, Phyllis Cline of Sedalia, and Vertina Williams of Columbia; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers Michael Smith and Dallas Smith, III.; a sister, Elizabeth A. Leavy Smith.
