With the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education rejecting requests from over 140 districts seeking to start the next school year early, the Santa Fe R-X Board of Education passed an amended calendar Tuesday, Mar. 10 to bring the district in line with state law.

Supt. Derek Lark says the updated calendar, which has the first day of classes Aug. 25, will result in an imbalance between the fall and spring semesters.
.

Also Tuesday night, the board received a number of reports reviewing the district’s special education program.

The Santa Fe school board also set Apr. 16 as their next meeting, which will serve as the reorganization meeting following next month’s municipal and school board elections.
