The Odessa Board of Aldermen approved a bill temporarily amending the City Code regarding the city’s Energy Cost Adjustment.
City Administrator Shawna Davis explains that city staff were notified that the ECA formula didn’t align with the city’s ordinance.
Aldermen approved the bill simplifying the formula so that it aligns with the adjusted calculation. Utility bills in March reflect this adjustment. Davis says the city is currently investigating the cause and the impact of the issue.
Aldermen also reviewed the findings of the Electric Rate Study conducted by Allgeier, Martin and Associates. Davis says the study found the City’s commercial rate to be high, while the residential rate was low for what the cost of service is. A rate adjustment and reclassification was proposed at the meeting, but aldermen plan to have more discussion before final approval.
The board’s next meeting is set for Monday, March 23rd.
