The Sedalia City Council voted last week to authorize a grant application that if awarded, would go toward expanding a walking trail at the animal shelter.
City administrator Matthew Wirt says the trail provides an opportunity for pet owners to walk their dogs and other animals in a quiet outdoor setting, including dogs they’re thinking of adopting.
.
Wirt says the grant from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources is a scrap tire grant that covers up to 75-thousand dollars of the cost, with no local match required.
Applications for the funding are due to DNR by Mar. 31.
