A brief special session Monday, Mar. 16 saw the Saline County Commission adopt an amended lease purchase agreement to continue construction of the wastewater treatment system at the Marshall Junction.

The Commission adopted the new agreement, seeking a total of $2.3 million from Wood and Huston Bank for repayment over the next ten years. The update agreement amends the one adopted in October, which was for $1.6 million and funded initial construction of the wastewater treatment plant and lagoon at the southeast corner of the Marshall Junction. Joey McLiney of McLiney and Associates, who has worked with the commission on financing the project, was present at the session.

Commissioners noted at their meeting last week that construction of the treatment facility and wastewater lines for the southeast quadrant of the junction was 90 percent complete. They added that construction would soon begin to expand the system to two other quadrants of the junction, with a target completion date of October for these quadrants.
