The Higginsville Board of Aldermen held a Transportation Committee meeting Monday evening to discuss the 2026 street projects.
The meeting followed a brief regular session of the board at 6 p.m. The 2026 street plan, which includes all the city’s asphalt and concrete projects, was presented to the Mayor and the board. City Administrator Jeanette Dobson says the city will now seek bids for the various street projects.
The city has about $810,000 budgeted for the street improvements.
The board also approved an ordinance adjusting curbing and sidewalk rebates.
Dobson also announced that the Administration Committee completed five interviews for the Building Official position and has narrowed their search to the final two candidates. Final interviews for the position will be completed soon. Current Building Official Sandra Stephens is retiring on June 12, 2026.
During the board’s regular session, Aldermen approved to commission Chad Collins as a reserve police officer.
