Snow cover along an area highway resulted in two crashes yesterday (Monday) morning, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Troopers first responded to a two-vehicle crash around 6:40 a.m. north of Arrow Rock, at the intersection of Routes 41 and AC. The patrol reports that a vehicle driven by a 29-year-old man from Marshall had slid from the northbound lane of Route 41, into the path of another vehicle that a 44-year-old man from Marshall was driving. The two collided head-on, resulting in one vehicle coming to rest in the roadway while the other stopped on the shoulder of the southbound lane. The older driver was treated for moderate injuries at a Columbia hospital, while the younger driver had no reported injuries.

Three hours later, a Blackwater man suffered moderate injury when his pickup slid off Route 41 three miles northeast of the city. Troopers say the 24-year-old’s pickup went off the northbound side of the highway past Route K and struck an embankment, coming to rest in a ditch. The driver was also taken to a Columbia hospital. Troopers note that the man had not been wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
