Junior high math classes at Northwest R-V Schools in Hughesville once again rank toward the top in the state.
The district’s board of education learned at their meeting Tuesday, Mar. 17 that Northwest ranked third in the state for growth over a three-year period, according to an analysis of test scores by Policy Research in Missouri Education (PRiME) Center at St Louis University. PRiME’s annual report showed half of Northwest’s middle school students reaching proficiency or better, resulting in a score of 93.9. Supt. Dr Amy Fagg commended the district’s math teachers, LaChere Marsh and Beth Harvey, for their efforts to encourage students to succeed in their classrooms.
Meanwhile, the only action item on the agenda concerned the teacher salary schedule for next school year. The board adopted the schedule as presented, maintaining a starting salary of $40,000, with the base set at $44,500 for teachers with a masters degree. The salary then increases for each year of service up to 12 years, with additional increases at 15, 20, 25 and 30 years of service. The district anticipates their total payroll to increase by $154,271.
