This year’s Missouri Agribusiness Academy class will include three high school sophomores from our area.

The Missouri Department of Agriculture announced this week that Emerson Eckler of Centralia, Maggie Reed of Green Ridge, and Brody Swindler of Norborne would be among the 30 students taking part in this summer’s academy. This June, students will spend a week in St Louis to explore careers in agriculture, build leadership skills, and learn more about farming, ranching and food production. Academy members will also participate in activities at the Missouri State Fair and a winter Legislative Day at the state capitol.

Since 1988, the Missouri Agribusiness Academy has awarded more than 1100 opportunities for Missouri FFA and 4-H members entering their junior year of high school, who had already expressed an interest in pursuing agriculture-related college degrees and careers.  This year’s participants include:
