Several area superintendents are expected to attend a forum Tuesday, Mar. 24 to address issues affecting rural school districts, including the potential impact of a measure facing several Missouri voters next month.

The forum will take place at Santa Fe High School in Alma. Supt. Derek Lark says the forum will touch on several issues impacting education funding, particularly for rural districts like Santa Fe.
.

The forum comes as voters in 97 counties across Missouri, including all our area counties except for Boone and Howard, will consider whether to implement a tax credit that limits the impact of increased assessed valuations on a taxpayer’s primary residence. Lark says the goal is to inform residents and encourage them to express any concerns they have about education to their representatives and elected leaders.

Duane Martin, an attorney that has represented school districts across the state, is also scheduled to speak. The forum will run Tuesday from 5:30 until 7 p.m. in the Greg Prather Gymnasium at Santa Fe High School.
