A crash east of Moberly on Sunday, Mar. 22 that involved a horse-drawn buggy has claimed the life of a Madison man and seriously injured his passenger.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that the 26-year-old man was steering his buggy west on Route M, about three miles west of Middle Grove, when at around 4:30 p.m. an SUV driven by a 75-year-old Moberly woman struck the rear of the buggy. The buggy’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while his 20-year-old passenger was flown to a Columbia hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The Moberly woman driving the SUV was treated for minor injuries at another hospital.
