A Marshall man will go on probation after reaching a plea deal with Saline County prosecutors on charges stemming from a burglary last December.

The amended complaint filed Monday, Mar. 23 dropped the two counts of armed criminal action against 20-year-old Kamal Jett, after Jett agreed to plead guilty to one count of burglary, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, one count of third-degree domestic assault, and a misdemeanor charge of visible intoxication under the age of 21. According to a probable cause statement, Marshall police were called to a residence the morning of Dec. 22, 2025, after one of the victims accused Jett of breaking into a home, grabbing a knife from a kitchen block, threatening several people in the residence. Another victim accused Jett of biting him, before Jett left for another residence, where he allegedly threatened the resident there with the knife.

Jett was given a suspended sentence and five years probation for the first three charges, while sentenced to 60 days on fourth-degree domestic assault charge and given a fine on the misdemeanor charge. Online records indicate that Jett was released Monday as he had spent the past three months in the Saline County Jail.
