A woman recently dismissed by the Lexington R-V School District is now facing charges that she had sexual contact with a student.

Online court records allege that 35-year-old Ashley E Dobson of Dover had a student from Lexington High School over at her home twice in the past week for illicit contact. Dobson had been on the staff at the school, but was terminated by the district shortly after her arrest Thursday, Mar. 26. According to the probable cause statement, Lexington Police were notified Wednesday afternoon about the encounters and interviewed the student. Officers say the student told them he had visited Dobson’s home twice.

An initial hearing has not yet been scheduled for Dobson. Lafayette County prosecutors are requesting that Dobson’s bond be set at $25,000, and that she be placed on home supervision with GPS monitoring and have no contact with the victim.

In a statement Thursday afternoon, Lexington R-V Supt. Amanda Finkledei said the district has been working with law enforcement in their investigation. She went on to say, “while there is no indication that any alleged misconduct occurred on campus or in connection with any District program or activities, failing to maintain boundaries with students in any setting is unacceptable.”
