A former coach for the California Pintos will now help Moniteau County call the shots as a member of the county commission.
Doug Miller was appointed Friday, Mar. 27 by Governor Mike Kehoe to fill the vacancy for Associate Commissioner District One. Miller spent 27 years with the Moniteau County R-I School District in California, teaching middle school physical education and health. His time at California included stints as coach of the middle school and high school football and basketball teams, as well as boys and girls golf. Since retiring in 2021, he’s active as an office manager and school bus driver.
Miller is a lifelong resident of Moniteau County. Miller will fill the remaining three years of the term that Douglas Naros had been elected to in November 2024. Naros resigned last February around the time of his arrest on multiple charges of theft and forgery. The case has moved to Morgan County on a change of venue, with a case review scheduled for the morning of April 7.
Meanwhile, Governor Kehoe made a total of ten appointments Friday, including two residents from Gravois Mills. Christpher Dumm was named to the Missouri Southern State University Board of Governors and Suzanne Kmet to the Missouri Workforce Development Board. Also appointed Friday was Matt Lambert of Laclede, who is joining the State Soil and Water Districts Commission.
