Dennis Leo Knipp, 90, of Pilot Grove, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove.

He was born on January 5, 1936, in Tipton, Missouri, a son of Peter Joseph Knipp, Jr. and Emma (Kramer) Knipp. On October 12, 1963, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove, Dennis was united in marriage to Joan Marie Spaedy. She preceded him in death on February 13, 2007.

Dennis honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, a service he carried with pride throughout his life. Following his military service, he dedicated many years of his professional career to the State of Missouri Division of Insurance, where he worked as an Insurance Examiner.

A man deeply committed to his community; Dennis faithfully served as Mayor of Pilot Grove for more than 20 years.

Dennis was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove. His faith was an important part of his life and was reflected in the way he served others and his community.

In his free time, Dennis enjoyed following politics and staying informed on current events. He appreciated thoughtful conversation and took great interest in the world around him.

Survivors include two children, Joe Knipp of Pilot Grove, and Donna Knipp of New York; one brother, Leroy Knipp; two sisters, Joann Knipp, and Emma Rose Dubbert.

In addition to both of his parents and his wife, Dennis was preceded in death by six brothers, Vernon, Basil, David, Melvin, Pete III, and William “Bill” Knipp; two sisters, Vera LeMora and Flavian Dix.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the St. Jospeh Catholic Church in Pilot Grove.  Prayers of the Rosary will begin at 10:40 a.m. on Thursday with a Mass of Christian burial to begin at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow with full military honors in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pilot Grove.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Tipton American Legion Edgar Cole Post 304.  Arrangements are in the care of Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Pilot Grove, MO.
