Three public forums are scheduled next month in Sedalia to gather public comment on what traits stakeholders hope to see in the next president of State Fair Community College.

The forums are designed up help the college and its search firm, the Association of Community College Trustees, develop criteria to find a successor to Dr Brent Bates, who announced his retirement in January. Bates says the sessions will take place Wednesday, April 22.

Bates adds that anyone unable to attend the sessions can submit comments on a form available on the college’s website.

Bates became president in 2022 following the retirement of his predecessor, Dr Joanne Anderson, and has spent 24 years at SFCC. His retirement will take effect after the Fall 2026 semester.
