A Sweet Springs man is expected to make his initial appearance Thursday, Apr. 2 in a Saline County courtroom on charges of assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
A probable cause statement accuses 25-year-old Colby Healey of threatening to shoot someone he was having an argument with at a Sweet Springs residence Tuesday. Saline County Sheriff’s deputies say that Healey had said he was going to dig a hole to put the victim in after he shot him. Healey was allegedly holding a gun when a deputy directed him to drop the weapon. Deputies say that Healey did so, but then allegedly raised his fist and lunged toward the deputy attempting to place him under arrest. The statement notes that Healey and the victim had been in another argument days earlier that turned physical. Deputies added that they recovered the weapon and discovered a freshly-dug hole in the backyard.
Healey is facing charges of first-degree assault as well as unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest. No bond has been allowed. A confined docket hearing is set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 8th at Saline County Circuit Court.
