The City of Sedalia has announced the postponement of a water main project in the city limits.

While excavating in the area of East 32nd Street and South Grand Avenue, contractors encountered buried water pipes that were a larger size than what was indicated on the historical infrastructure data. This will cause a two-week delay in the project to get the correct pipe and fittings.

The excavated area was backfilled, and the intersection was reopened at 7 p.m Monday. There will also no longer be an interruption of water service in the area on Tuesday, April 7. The City plans to release the updated schedule for the intersection to re-close and the water service interruption as soon as the information becomes available.

KMMO News will provide future updates as they come available.
