The St. Louis Cardinals won their third consecutive game, defeated the Houston Astros 9-4 at Daikin Park Friday evening.

Jordan Walker gave the Redbirds an early lead in the first with an RBI single, extending his hitting streak to 12 games. Masyn Winn added to the lead in the third with a two-run single.

St. Louis starter Kyle Leahy ran into some trouble in the bottom of the third, allowing solo homers from Christian Vázquez and Yordan Alvarez to trim the lead to one.

The Cardinals got a run back in the fourth thanks to an RBI single from Ivan Herrera, but Jose Altuve responded with another solo homer for Houston in the fifth.

Nolan Gorman helped the Cardinals separate after blasting a three-run home run to right field, giving St. Louis a 7-3 lead. Herrera added a two-run homer in the eighth to put the game out of reach.

Leahy picked up the win, allowing three runs on five hits over five innings. The St. Louis bullpen was solid, only allowing a run over the final four frames.

The Cardinals improve to 11-8 on the season. They’ll go for the series win Saturday, with Andre Pallante facing Lance McCullers Jr. First pitch is at 6:10 p.m.
