The Kansas City Royals tied the game late, but then immediately allowed a two-run homer to fall to the New York Yankees 4-2 Friday night at Yankee Stadium.

New York took the lead in the fourth with a two-run home run off the bat of Ben Rice. That would be the only damage allowed by Michael Wacha, who went six innings and gave up three hits and three walks with six strikeouts.

Kansas City plated a run in the sixth inning against Cam Schlittler when Vinnie Pasquantino drove home Maikel Garcia with a groundout. Pasquantino tied the game in the eighth with his second homer of the year.

In the bottom of the eighth, Alex Lange allowed a go-ahead two-run homer to Ryan McMahon to give New York the late lead. The Royals would send the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but couldn’t score against David Bednar.

The Royals fall to 7-13 and have now lost five straight games. Kansas City will look to stop the skid today, sending Noah Cameron to the mound to face Will Warren. Pregame coverage will begin at noon, with first pitch set for 12:35 p.m. on KMMO AM 1300.
