The Saline County Career Center Future Business Leaders of America Chapter received the Gold Chapter of the Year Award at the FBLA State Leadership Conference held April 12-14 in Springfield.
The award is the highest honor bestowed to Missouri FBLA chapters. A chapter is ranked bronze, silver, or gold based on its annual program of activities. A few categories of the application include; community service projects, chapter recruitment events, and member participation in Competitive Events. The SCCC FBLA Chapter were one of the 58 out of 450 chapters statewide to receive this prestigious honor.
The chapter was also represented by 14 qualifying members in various events. To qualify, the members had to study, practice and place in the top of their event categories at the District Leadership Conference in Chillicothe on February 6.
In addition to the competitive events, FBLA members also have opportunities to earn achievements by logging their community service hours. The Community Service Awards (CSA) were established to recognize the FBLA members who go above and beyond in their efforts in community service at the state level. The levels of achievement are: CSA Community (50 Service Hours), CSA Service (200 Service Hours), and CSA Achievement (500 Service Hours). This year the SCCC FBLA Chapter had two members earn CSA Service: Jasmine Davis and Kate-Lynn O’Donnell. The members were recognized at an Awards/Recognition Ceremony on April 13.
