The Odessa Board of Aldermen approved the annexation of a parcel of land along West Main Street during its meeting on Monday, April 27.

Public Information Coordinator Leslie Shier explained the parcel was annexed into the city and will facilitate future growth for property owners Greenup Holdings.

 

The board also approved motions to rezone the parcel, along with a neighboring property, from Agricultural to Light Industrial.

Aldermen also accepted the sanitary sewer infrastructure on three separate parcels on 9th Street Terrace. Shier says this integration will help improve efficiency and repairs.

 

Aldermen then approved a mutual aid agreement with the Kansas City Police Department for agency assistance in supporting public safety operations for the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup. The board also cancelled its May 25th meeting due to Memorial Day, and will instead hold a special meeting on Tuesday, May 26, to discuss electrical rates. The board’s next meeting will still be held on Monday, May 11.
