
Boys team tennis tournaments begin Monday, May 4 across Missouri, as spring sports enter postseason play.
Prior to the team tournaments, singles and doubles brackets played out last week at district sites around the state. The Marshall Owls took the top two spots in the Class One, District Four singles tournament hosted at Excelsior Springs, with Jase Knott claiming top honors while Aleksandar Simic finished second. Lafayette County swept the doubles results, with Colby Dickmeier and Alex Dyer claiming a 6-2, 6-0 victory over fellow Huskers Mateo Guillen and Rhett Burns.
Elsewhere, Moberly’s pairing of Andrew O’Laughlin and Enda Chang finished second in the Class One, District Three tournament at Mexico. They fell in the district title match to the School of the Osage duo Brady Clark and Blake Harrison, (5-7) 7-5 10-8. Warrensburg swept the doubles spots in the Class Two, District Seven tournament at Belton. Oliver Staab and Nicholas Staab defeated Calvin Werner and Griffin Shaw by a 6-0, 6-2 score. Kaleb Smarr finished second in the singles tournament to Samuel Goodhue of Joplin’s Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School, 6-0 6-4.
