The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control has been requested to investigate a shooting involved a police officer with the Sedalia Police Department.

According to the Patrol, Sedalia Police were dispatched to a domestic violence call at 9:55 a.m. in the 1000 block of South Garfield Avenue. When officers arrived, a male subject exited the residence and entered a pickup in an attempt to flee. Officers engaged in a pursuit with the man has he traveled on South Garfield. At a stop sign, the suspect reportedly began traveling in reverse and struck an officer’s vehicle.

An officer reportedly fired his duty weapon at the suspect at 10:02 a.m. before the pursuit continued south on east 16th Street. The suspect’s vehicle eventually came to a stop near South Arlington Avenue. It was revealed that the suspect was struck by gunfire during the change. He was taken into custody and treated at a nearby hospital.

The Patrol is investigating the officer-involved shooting, while Sedalia Police are investigating the domestic disturbance. All reports will be transported to the Pettis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.
