The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Troop A has named its new zone commander for Johnson County.
Over the weekend, Christopher Blackmon was promoted from corporal to sergeant and named the zone commander for the troop’s Zone 12, which covers Johnson County. Blackmon has been with the patrol since October 2002, initially serving in his native Jackson County. He’s also spent a year with the troop’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement unit, and three years patrolling Clay County. Blackmon has served in Johnson County since May 2013, when he was named its assistant zone supervisor.
Blackmon’s promotion is among three that the Highway Patrol announced that took effect Saturday. Christopher West was also promoted to sergeant and named the new zone commander for Henry County. Walter Luzenko also earned promotion to sergeant and will become the zone supervisor for Zone 14, which covers Bates and Cass counties.
