The Santa Fe R-10 Board of Education approved a meal price increase for the 2026-2027 school year during its meeting on Wednesday, May 13.
Superintendent Derek Lark says the district has tried to avoid passes increases on students and staff, but rising food costs have forced the board to raise meal prices for the next school year.
In other news, the Board of Education appointed Brad Hinz to fill the vacancy left by the unexpected passing of Tim Dierking in April. Lark says Hinz is a familiar face on the school board and will be able to help out right away.
Hinz will fill the seat until the April 2027, where it will appear on the ballot as a two-year unexpired term.
Lark also highlighted the achievement of Elementary Principal Stacey Smith for being recognized as the Central Missouri School Counselors Association 2026 Administrator of the Year.
The board’s next meeting is set for Wednesday, June 24.
