While most eyes have been on the construction of the new Governor Michael L Parson Arena, several other projects have taken place throughout the 600-acre Missouri State Fairgrounds during the offseason.
Director Jason Moore says that includes more campground sites that he hopes will attract more events to the fairgrounds throughout the year.
Elsewhere, crews are working with the Fire Fighters Association of Missouri to build a new firehouse for the volunteer force that protects the fairgrounds during the fair. The new firehouse replaces the previous one that has served the grounds for several decades.
The firehouse also sits across from the 4-H building, which has also received an extensive renovation.
The 124th Missouri State Fair will run August 13th through the 23rd in Sedalia.
