A Dixon man has been charged with a felony for purchasing a vehicle from another man using an allegedly stolen check.
A probable-cause statement says on August 16, a man was selling a vehicle that was parked at Higginsville Junction. Another man contacted the seller, whom reportedly accepted a check for $15,000. However the check reportedly was written in another person’s name and using his account.
On October 24, the seller was contacted and shown a photo lineup, which included a photograph of the individual claiming to be the person whose check was accepted. The seller was able to identify the individual he sold the vehicle to as Larry C. Brittian.
According to court documents, Brittian has been charged with a Class D Felony for Stealing of $750 or More. Bond has been set at $10,000 cash or surety.
Brittian’s initial hearing is pending at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
