Bond has been fixed at $50,000 cash only for a Jefferson City man who has been charged with sex-related felonies involving a female child in Cooper County.
According to a probable-cause statement, on April 24, 2019, authorities received a request for assistance from a Children’s Division investigator who was investigating the report of sexual abuse involving a minor female child. The child alleged to authorities that she was inappropriately touched by Christopher Garland Amsbury.
Another child also alleged he was assaulted by Amsbury. The child said Amsbury pushed his face into a mattress on multiple occasions and held his face in the mattress, causing him pain and making it difficult for him to breathe.
Court documents say a warrant has been issued and Amsbury has been charged with a Class A Felony for Child Molestation in the First Degree; a Class E Felony for Domestic Assault in the Third Degree; and an Unclassified Felony for Sodomy or Attempted Sodomy in the First Degree- Aggravated Sexual Offense.
Amsbury’s initial hearing is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
