Registered voters in an area school district will be voting on a bond issue this spring.
According to a release from Norborne R-8 Superintendent Troy Lentz, in January, the Norborne R-8 School Board approved ballot language for “Proposition Pirates”- a $1 million bond issue for facility improvements. The measure will be financed by the current debt-service levy of $0.53.
Projects proposed in “Proposition Pirates” include LED lighting conversion; installation of solid-core doors and secure locks in the elementary; replacement of aging HVAC units; replacement of flooring in the library and main office; elementary classroom upgrades; replacement of several exterior doors and windows; and construction of a secure double-door entrance for the high school.
The last bond issue funded construction of the weight room and bus barn, as well as many other improvements.
“Proposition Pirates” will appear on the Municipal Election ballot on Tuesday, April 7.
