Assistant Superintendent Dr. Terry Lorenz covered a lot of territory during his report at the Marshall School Board meeting on Tuesday, July 21.
According to unofficial minutes from the meeting, Dr. Lorenz reported the lockers in the commons at the high school have been removed and installed at Bueker Middle School. The roof at Spainhower Primary School is almost complete; painting is being done; the tile floor is scheduled to be delivered on Friday, July 24; and curb and parking lot pavement is under way.
Dr. Lorenz also reported a bathroom at Northwest Elementary School has been remodeled, and the print shop is ready to move to Northwest. The heat exchanger at the industrial arts building is failing, and the district has asked for bids for a new 20-ton cooling unit.
Dr. Lorenz was asked to report on the number of devices the district had, and they are: all windows mobile devices, teacher and student – 1540; student Windows devices – 989; student chrome books – 195; and teacher and staff devices – 551.
Student devices and staff devices-number per building: MHS: student – 528, staff – 88; BMS: student – 148, staff – 68; Northwest: student – 66, staff – 29; Benton: student – 35, staff – 33; Southeast: student – 32, staff – 26; TLC: student – 23, staff -18; Eastwood: student – 77, staff – 37; central office: student – 4, staff – 27; early childhood: student – 1, staff – 21; SCCC: student – 47, staff – 55; and industrial arts: student – 19, staff – 70.
Dr. Lorenz also reported how many devices are in the works to be added to the district for this upcoming year prior to COVID-19. He reported there are about 400 chrome books coming in at this point, including special services – 117; SCCC – 26; Northwest – 36; BMS-16; and MHS – 150.
