Marshall fire fighters were toned out to douse a garage fire on Sunday, April 26.
According to a fire department spokesperson, the garage behind the house in the 500 block of North Brunswick Avenue was fully involved when firemen arrived on the scene three minutes after being toned out at 7:02 p.m. They had the blaze under control at 7:34 p.m. The last unit left the scene at 8:50 p.m.
The garage structure- valued at $30,000- was deemed a total loss. Estimated damage to the $100,000 worth of its contents- which included vehicles- was $60,000. The spokesperson said two vehicles were removed from the structure, but one had suffered minor damage, and the other sustained heavy damage from the fire; and another vehicle that was parked just outside the structure had damage to its front end.
The cause of the blaze was determined to be an electrical short in the wiring.
There were no injuries reported from the scene.
