The case involving a Kansas City, Kansas man who is facing felony charges including murder and kidnapping has been set for jury trial.

On February 22, Sedalia Police officers responded to the 700 block of East 17th Street where they found Robert G. Fox lying in the street, dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.

After an investigation, detectives were able to establish a motive and identify a suspect vehicle that later led authorities to a subject who lived in the Kansas City, Kansas, area. Authorities tracked the suspect vehicle to Sedalia prior to the homicide and back to the KCK area, and 27-year-old Daniel Fernandez was charged.

Fernandez is charged with a Class A Felony for Murder in the Second Degree; a Class D Felony for Kidnapping in the Second Degree; and Unclassified Felonies for Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

Fernandez’s attorney filed a motion for bond reduction and a hearing that matter is set for 2 p.m. Monday, August 31.

During a court proceeding that was held on Monday, August 17, the court set the jury trial in this case to begin at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13 at Pettis County Circuit Court.
