A 16-year-old died at a residence in the 700 block of North Grand Avenue in Sedalia on August 4, and three persons have been charged with felonies in connection with the aftermath.
According to a police report, a Sedalia Police officer responded to Bothwell Regional Health Center in reference to a deceased juvenile who was brought to the emergency room. The officer made contact with Pettis County Coroner Robert “Skip” Smith, who was already there. Smith said the deceased individual- Jacob Howe- was dropped off by three individuals who then left the scene. It was determined Howe had been deceased for approximately six to 12 hours prior to his arrival at the Emergency Room.
By viewing surveillance video, the three persons who dropped off Howe were identified as Kricket Kylee Dhority, who is now 19, 17-year-old Gunnar Fletcher-Zaremba and 20-year-old Gary McKinsey Jr. One of the subjects told authorities Howe might have ingested 30mg Percocet pills the night before.
Each of the subjects has been charged with a Class E Felony for Abandonment of a Corpse. Bond for each has been set at $7,500 cash or surety.
Dhority was arraigned on Monday, August 24. Her next hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1- while an initial hearing for each of the others accused is pending- at Pettis County Circuit Court.
