Following the replacement of the Cooper County Route K bridge over Blackwater River, a contractor working for the Missouri Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin the replacement of another nearby bridge over Flat Creek as part of a contracted bridge package.
A news release says the Route DD Flat Creek bridge, west of the Cooper County Route K intersection, has reached a point where replacement is necessary. Construction is scheduled to begin Tuesday, September 8. Route DD will be closed to traffic for up to three months while the work takes place.
Motorists will need to use alternate routes while the bridge replacement takes place. Signs and barricades will be in place to alert motorists of the road closure.
Both of the bridges that are a part of this project are included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
This work is weather permitting and could be delayed.
