
The manhunt is over for a suspect in an alleged homicide that took place in Howard County on Monday.
Just before 5 p.m. on Monday, September 7, Howard County 911 received a call from a residence in the 400 block of Crew Street in Franklin for a female stabbing victim. When Deputies and medical personnel arrived, they found 22-year-old Courtney Clardy, deceased, from apparent stab wounds.
The Mid-Missouri Major Case Squad was activated, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control was contacted to assist with the investigation and provide additional resources.
Emmett Wood Jr., a 44-year-old, white male, of Franklin, was identified as a suspect. The Howard County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued a warrant for the arrest of Wood, charging him with Class A Felony Murder Second Degree.
The Cooper County Sheriff’s Office, Boonville and New Franklin police departments and the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted in the search for Wood.
Wood was located in a rural area, south of Glasgow at approximately 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, where he was taken into custody. Wood was transported to the Howard County jail, where he remains in custody, without bond.
Wood’s initial hearing is pending at Howard County Circuit Court.
