The positive COVID-19 case count grew by double digits in four of the seven counties in the immediate KMMO listening area and one other area county on Wednesday, September 30.

According to health-department officials, the largest increase was 22 in Pettis County, raising its overall total to 1,156 since the beginning of the pandemic. With 20 deaths and 928 positive patients released from public health isolation as recovered, there are 208 active cases, including nine persons hospitalized.

Twenty-one new positive cases were confirmed in Cooper County, upping its total to 469. With 406 recoveries and three deaths, 63 active cases remain.

In Johnson County, the total positive cases increased by 20 to 1,268. Due to 1,003 recoveries and six deaths, there are 259 active cases.

Increasing by 14, the total number of positive cases in Saline County is 794. With 12 deaths and 682 recoveries, the active case count is 100, including four persons hospitalized.

Eleven new positive cases were reported in Howard County, increasing its total to 303. With one death and 261 recoveries, 41 positive cases remain, including one person hospitalized.

Carroll County reported eight new positive cases, raising its total to 138. Due to 119 recoveries and one death, there are 18 active cases.

Seven more positive cases were reported in Lafayette County, increasing its total to 558. With 306 recoveries and 14 deaths, 238 cases remain active.

Chariton County’s total inched up by one, getting its total to 77. With 72 positive patients recovered, there are five active cases.
