An area man has been ordered to pay back some money to folks he defrauded.

According to Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, on September 8, 2020, Sherwin D. Marshall pleaded guilty to a Class D Felony of Violations Involving Health Care Payments at Pettis County Circuit Court.

Marshall submitted false time sheets for allegedly receiving personal-care services. No services were ever provided. Marshall convinced a healthcare worker to participate in his scheme, who was prosecuted as a co-defendant.

Marshall received the payments that he fraudulently caused to be paid by Medicaid. Upon his plea of guilty, Marshall was sentenced to five years in the Department of Corrections. The execution of sentence suspended, and he was placed on probation for five years with special conditions, and ordered to pay $6,181.06 in restitution to Medicaid.
