
Three more COVID-19-related deaths were reported in an area county, and the number of positive cases continued to rise in several area counties. Some counties updated numbers over the weekend, while others updated numbers on Friday, October 9.
The largest increase was in Lafayette County. During a four-day period from Tuesday to Friday, 48 new cases were confirmed, raising its total to 660 since the beginning of the pandemic. Three more deaths raise that total to 20. With 501 positive patients recovered, there are 139 active cases in the county.
In Pettis County, 28 more positive cases were reported on Friday. That raised the county’s total to 1,339. With 1,057 positive patients recovered and 22 deaths, there are 260 active cases, including 10 persons hospitalized.
In Saline County, seven new positive cases were reported on Friday, raising its total to 900. With 12 deaths and 769 recoveries, there are 119 active cases, including five persons hospitalized.
Two more positive cases were confirmed in Carroll County, increasing its total to 163. With 138 recoveries and two deaths, there are 23 active cases.
