Fire fighters from several area agencies helped douse a blaze over the weekend.

According to the Corder/Dover Fire Protection District, seven fire departments- including Concordia, Higginsville, Alma, Waverly, Mayview, Lexington and Wellington- helped it fight a 312-acre field fire and two out buildings that burned Saturday afternoon south of Corder.

Higginsville EMS, Lafayette County Sheriff’s deputies, Higginsville dispatch and the farmers who brought 19 tractors with disks also helped contain the fire.

There were 28 fire trucks and 62 firemen on the scene at one time.
